Waiting It Out With Your Toddler

You may hire a sitter to entertain your toddler at home while you go to appointments. There are times, however, when you have to take your toddler to an appointment with their doctor or dentist. A wait in the waiting room is usually unavoidable, and with a toddler the wait can feel like an eternity. How do you keep your toddler entertained in the waiting room of the doctor, dentist, car dealership, or other place where you have to sit and wait a little while? You probably packed a toy or two from home in your purse or diaper bag, … Continue reading

There could be anywhere between twelve and fourteen blogs that appear here weekly. Did you miss something? Now is your chance to “ketchup”. Governor Christie Vetoes Insurance Exchange New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has vetoed a bill that would have set up an online marketplace for health insurance. He feels that it is too early to set up his state’s insurance exchange, and is waiting to see what the Supreme Court decides about … Continue reading

When Waiting Pays Off

While many people assume that booking early will yield the best price on airfare, often, waiting until the last minute can pay huge dividends. When you can score a round-trip, non-stop flight from Chicago to Honolulu for just $500 by waiting until 48 hours before your departure to buy; that’s success in my book. Of course, if you are flying with multiple family members, including four kids under the age of five, it may not be possible to be so flexible. Still, waiting can produce big rewards, especially if you are booking a flight to a popular vacation destination, such … Continue reading

The Waiting Game

(The ticket to higher education.) Forget about the Hunger Games, tis the season for the waiting game. Millions of high school seniors are anxiously waiting for colleges to either welcome them with open arms or send a skinny envelope dashing their dreams of pursuing higher education at the campus of their choice. Do you remember the day you received your first college acceptance letter? I was fortunate to get into my top three picks, and like the majority of my teenage peers, I broke into a happy dance and eagerly shared the news with family and friends. Boy, have times … Continue reading

Waiting On a Status Update

Last week, I went to see an insurance broker, in the hopes that she could find me an affordable health insurance policy. To my pleasant surprise, she was able to not only find one, but to help me to apply for it as well. Since then, I have been waiting for a status update from the insurance company. The wait feels long. This blog is one of the many I have written about my continued quest to find affordable health insurance. So far, all of my attempts to do this by myself ended in failure. That is what inspired me … Continue reading

Accidents Waiting to Happen

While my cellphone is capable of snapping pictures, I don’t dare use it to capture monumental moments. For example, there’s no way I would document my daughter’s birthday or kindergarten graduation with a mobile phone. Granted, the iPhone and other wireless devices come equipped with sophisticated built-in cameras, but the truth of the matter is I struggle to keep my grip on my modest-sized digital camera. I can’t imagine how often I would fumble trying to keep my hands on a palm-sized picture-taking device that isn’t set-up like a traditional camera. I’m not a career butterfingers, but I’ve had my … Continue reading

Waiting to Take the Christmas Decorations Down

I have been accused of being a “bah humbug” when it comes to Christmas decorations. That’s because I am usually counting down the days until all of them come down, including the tree. While the first couple of weeks I really do enjoy the festive look of Christmas throughout my house, it begins to die out. Suddenly all I can think about is getting my house back to where it was. I miss my family pictures, currently being replaced by angels and snowmen. I miss seeing out the window, currently blocked by the Christmas tree. Actually, I just prefer the … Continue reading

Waiting for Pathology Again

Hello again, well today I am thinking about what is going on with my husband. He is a testicular cancer survivor for the last seven years and he is also a diabetic. Within the last few weeks we have found out that one of his kidneys was failing and died. He has undergone all these different test and found that his kidney was not getting any blood flow and one of them was totally dead. Last week he underwent a kidney removal and has been in the hospital for the last nine days. He had his surgery 5 days ago … Continue reading
