Sisters and Similarities

The story continues basically with my relationship with my brother developing into a pretty sturdy bond for awhile. It was only a few weeks down the road when I finally got my first contact with biological sister, Renee.

She was only thirteen years old at the time we first had contact. She was living with foster parents, whom she seemed to adore, and whom I was rather fond of as well. It was wonderful getting to know her and essentially from a distance, watch her grow up.

She sent me photographs the first time she sent me a letter. And the letter was so incredibly adorable. It was a quick letter about how happy she was I found them. That she loved me. She was glad to have a big sister.

And then she included this questionnaire thing. In total teenage style, she had sent me this list of questions for me to fill out, such as what my favorite candy was, what my favorite color was, what was my favorite food, music, thing to do, etc.

I actually had a lot of fun doing it, and in return sent her one to fill out. I hadn't filled mine in when I sent her my list. So while I was waiting for it to arrive to her, I filled out mine.

It was a rather large shock when we both received them because many of our answers, which were very specific were the same. I realize it's coincidence, but when you are looking to be like someone else, any similarities you take and run with.

My favorite was her answer to what is your favorite candy. She had answered, Dark Chocolate Milky Way - which is now known as Milky Way Midnight. So why was that my favorite response? Because it was the exact same thing I had penned onto her questionnaire about me! And that isn't the most common answer. Most people say MnM's, or Skittles, or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Nope, not us. We specifically liked Dark Chocolate Milky Ways. Too strange, but cool all at the same time.

I spent hours pouring over her words, her questionnaire and her photographs. Unfortunately, my sister and I didn't resemble each other as much as my brother and I had. At thirteen she looked quite a bit different than I did.

I am on the left, she is on the right.

She's still cute as can be, but you can certainly see there is little resemblance....oh wait...except those trademark eyes!
