Louisiana Has Many Medicaid Programs that Cover Children

Medicaid, in every state, has a portion that is designed to cover children. In some states, it is simply called CHIP, which stands for Children’s Health Insurance Program. In Louisiana, there are several different Medicaid programs that cover kids. There is a helpful chart that explains them all. Medicaid is a public, or government run, form of health insurance. It is designed to provide low-income individuals and families with an affordable form of health insurance coverage. Medicaid is funded, in part, by the federal government. It is also funded, in part, by the government of an individual state. In Louisiana, … Continue reading

The Many Benefits of Walking

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I decided to take a walk by the lakefront in our hometown of Milwaukee. The reason had less to do with exercise and more about getting out of the house. We had just experienced our firstborn child leaving the home. He left for basic training in Texas with the Air Force. We were left with a lot of mixed feelings. Dealing with our emotions was difficult. At times we were even at odds with each other, which is why my husband suggested a walk by the lake. For some reason being away … Continue reading

If you have ever had to ask your toddler more than once to do something, you are not alone. Sometimes It Is The Right Thing

We all have deal breakers in a relationship. We would never marry someone who has one of them, and they are different for all of us. There are a few big ones that are the same for just about everyone, abuse, substance abuse and infidelity. The sad part is that while those deal breakers may not be present at the beginning of your marriage they may appear later. It’s hard to walk away from your marriage, especially when there are children involved. For me, Hailey was a deciding factor, both in staying as long as I did and finally, in … Continue reading

Well that may not necessarily be true, according to research done by “Commonsense Media.” In fact, you might be surprised to learn that some teens would rather do without. The study involved the first generation of 13 and 17 year olds to go through a vast array of media and technological devices. In other words, … Continue reading

How Many Hats Do You Wear?

Have you ever really thought about the many hats that you wear? Most of us who run a home-based business have many other responsibilities. We may be married, have children, do volunteer work, care for a family member and the list goes on. Sometimes I find that I am trying to wear more than one hat at a time, especially in working from home. In the middle of my day I might have to take care of an errand for my husband. Or I may have to pick up my kids from school, only to go back a couple of … Continue reading
