Keeping in the whole sharing mood this week, I thought I'd share two more pieces I wrote. One was when I was eighteen years old and the other when I was twenty one.

I sincerely hope you enjoy. And please, forgive the "rough around the edges" sound to the pieces. They have since been cleaned up a bit, but these are the originals, in their completely original format.

The first one...

"In the Past" - by Nicole Humphrey

Not so long ago, but yet almost too long,

I was given away. By the person who gave me life.

Two loving people took me and raised me.

I lived a happy life, but what about that one person? The one that brought me into this world.

The one that said let me go.

Is she out there somewhere?

Does she still care, or did she never really anyway?

I am told that she did,

for she gave me the best life....

But what about her life?

Did it really make it better?

Or somehow, was a part of her taken 18 years ago.

and the second one...

"Searching for the answer" - by Nicole Humphrey

Twenty one years ago I lost something,

something very important to me.

It wasn't then, but it is now.

She was only eighteen, too young to care,

or did she?

I am searching now, for the answer to this.

As I look into the eyes of my child,

I have to wonder, does she ever think?

I need to know what happened.

I need to know her.

I bet she's beautiful, sweet as can be.

I bet she thinks of me sometimes.

When I see my child smile at me, I wonder.....

Does she want to see me smile?

Did she get to hold me,

or did she say goodbye too soon.

I am searching for those answers, and maybe,

when I make this phone call, I will know.
